]]> Whether you’re learning how to paint a room for the first time or doing it regularly, there are ways to make the process easier. Follow these tips for interior painting, and you’ll be on your way to a great-looking room in no time!

You can paint a room by yourself, with just a few helpful tips and tricks.

It may seem like a daunting task, but with these helpful tips and tricks, painting your home’s interior will be a breeze!

  • You’ll save money. Painting your house yourself will save you money.
  • It’ll make you feel good about what you’ve accomplished. You’ll also have an amazing new look to show off to everyone who comes over.

Prep the room.

In order to paint a room, you’ll need to prep it. This means removing all furniture or covering it with drop cloths, covering your floors with drop cloths, covering any windows with plastic sheeting (or at least keeping them open), and taping off doorways so that the paint doesn’t get on the trim or moldings. If you time you could also tape off your baseboards or skirting boards to protect them from drips.

Prep the paint.

When you’re ready to paint, make sure that you have the right amount of paint for your project. If it is too thick, it will be more difficult for the brush or roller to apply smoothly and evenly on the walls.

If your paint has been stored for a while and is starting to feel thick or lumpy, stir it well before using it. The same goes for any old paints in your garage that might be clumpy after sitting unused for years: give them a good stir before applying them onto your walls!

Paint the ceiling.

  • Use a paintbrush to do the corners. You can use a roller or sprayer for the rest of it, but if you’re looking for a more detailed finish with less mess and splatter, grab yourself some natural bristled brushes and get to work. The smaller ones are best suited for ceiling painting because they’ll allow you greater control than larger brushes would (which are better suited toward walls). Plus, they require less cleanup afterward!
  • Rollers & poles: For large areas like ceilings or wall-to-wall coverage, rollers are your friend. They’re fast and easy to use—just make sure that any roller cover is specifically designed for latex before using it on your walls (otherwise you might end up with bubbles in your paint job). Remember: It’s also possible to buy these accessories separately from your roller itself—make sure you buy them together as one unit if possible so that everything matches up perfectly!

Paint the walls.

Wait until the ceiling is dry in case you need to do another coat.

  • If you’re working with a large area of flat wall, use a paint roller. Rollers are more efficient at covering large areas than brushes or other tools because they allow you to cover more ground without making as many strokes. Using a roller also prevents brush marks from being visible in your final product, so if your walls aren’t perfect yet (and they probably won’t be), this is a good way to hide them!
  • If you’re using a brush, try using one with natural bristles so that it will be easier on sensitive surfaces like drywall or plasterboard. If you’re using latex paint then try applying it with an angled sash brush which will give you better control over how thickly each stroke goes on.
  • When spraying paint onto your walls, aim for about 12 inches away from the surface being painted—this should create even coverage across all areas of your wall.

Clean up and let dry.

While you wait, If you have any drips or spills on the floor, be sure to clean them up as soon as possible so they don’t harden and become permanent marks in your new look. After the paint has dried, you can begin moving furniture back into the room.

The most important thing to remember when painting a room is that it’s not an exact science. Feel free to experiment and play around with different techniques until you find something that works for you. Where to start!

If you’re using nails, you’ll need to know where to put them. The trick is to find something called the stud, which is a support inside the wall that can hold weight better than drywall.

To do that, use a stud finder—a special tool that will tell you if there’s a support behind your wall (the most common place for it). If the wall has no supports behind it, don’t worry; we’ll talk about where else to put your picture frame in a minute.

Once you’ve located your wall’s studs, use a hammer and nail or picture hook and attach it to the wall at the stud.

No Stud? No Problem!

If you don’t have a stud to hammer the nail into, then you’ll need to use something called a hollow-wall anchor. It’s basically a metal or plastic nail with an expanding anchor on the end. The anchor expands when you drive it into your wall. Then, the nail stays in place as though it were held by some sort of magical force (it is not). It’s not quite as permanent as using good old-fashioned wood, but if you’re hanging pictures on drywall or plaster walls then this is your best bet.

What weight do I need in a hammer?

You’ll want to choose a hammer weight based on the application. If its for light duty, try something under 10 ounces like a finishing hammer. For regular duty look for something between 10-20 ounces, 16 is popular. Then that means if its for heavy duty then you’ll want to look for something over 20 ounces with a durable handle.

What type of handle should I look for?

Steel will be the strongest handle type by far but just because its strong doesn’t mean it will give you more hammering power. Consider a solid wood of fiberglass handle for most applications so you don’t wear yourself out, only go with steel if the extra weight is really worth the durability.

What safety precautions should I take?

Wear protective eye and hand wear.
Inspect the tool before using it, looking for cracks, rust, or other damage that might cause the tool to malfunction.

We’re back for another Daily Deal on Amazon for 9/22/22! I’ve looked through today’s offerings and the best thing I’ve got for today is a toaster oven?! Well the reviews on this bad boy speak for itself and it’s 36% off for a few more days, so this was definitely the sweetest deal on deck today.

While checking into products to talk about, I always read the reviews to make sure users are happy with their purchase. The reviews on this model were overwhelmingly positive and thorough… like really thorough. Here are a couple snippets, but you’ll have to go check out the top review for yourself.

“When the thermostat died on my well-loved two-slice toaster oven (it would toast, but not oven), I was surprised that the good quality, newer toaster ovens were all much larger. Figuring if my replacement oven was going to take up more precious counter space, I wanted one to earn that space by doing more than just toasting and reheating foods.

I’ve found it with this model Breville toaster oven with the Convection option feature. The interior light is a bonus. I also prefer this toaster oven’s crumb tray being removable from the front of the oven rather than having to open a bottom trap door or fumble around in the back of the unit to remove and replace the tray after cleaning as I did with my old oven. It seems like not matter what I try they always come out wrinkled one way or another. I’ve tried the starch, I’ve tried towel, the pillow case, I suck at ironing and that’s ok. In comes the electric steamer. These steamers take all the work out of taking the wrinkles out of our clothing. Hang up the shirt or dress or blouse, hit it with the steam, and let the imperfections just fall off. I was pretty surprised at how well the electric steamer could work. I had heard one could leave their clothes hanging while they take a shower but that never did anything for me so I was a skeptic for a while.

The steamer can be used for more than just clothes as well. They’re great for removing wrinkles from many types of fabric, a common use is for curtains in the home. The steam is delicate on most fabrics, but be sure to check if a fabric can be steamed before diving in!
